Michael J. Constantinou was truly a brother to be admired and respected. He pledged Q-8 not once, not twice but three times. The first two times he pledged he was dropped for various reasons and yet he still came back for a third try during a time when each cycle was 13 weeks long.
After successfully completing the pledge cycle, which now meant his total pledging time was 39+ weeks and counting, Mike was then inducted into Q-8 in the Fall of 1963.
After a tour of duty in Vietnam and one in the Pershing Gulf War, time and diabetes forced Mike out of his beloved peace time army. For those who knew Mike he was a source of inspiration. a brother who never forgot his beginnings and came to every Company Dinner he was around for including the 2002 version after a 6 year halt to the event. Tragedy forced Mike to miss any more.
In September of 2003, Mike was hospitalized after years of illness caught up with him, and he passed away on March 23, 2004, exactly one month before the next Company Dinner was to be held on April 23, 2004. The Dinner was named in his honor and the first ever recipient of the award was named in front of a crowd of his peers, his friends, his brothers...
